Irreversible efficiency and Carnot theorem for heat engines operating with multiple heat baths in linear response regime

چکیده

The Carnot theorem, one expression of the second law thermodynamics, places a fundamental upper bound on efficiency heat engines operating between two baths. theorem can be stated in more generalized form for with multiple baths, where maximum is achieved reversible quasistatically In this study, we determine irreversible baths linear response regime, i.e., under small temperature differences and slow variation control parameters, by quantifying impact dissipation operations. derived as natural consequence it. Because result obtained based relation fluctuation-dissipation universal framework theory, it has wide applicability to regime.

Efficiency at maximum power output of linear irreversible Carnot-like heat engines.

The efficiency at maximum power output of linear irreversible Carnot-like heat engines is investigated based on the assumption that the rate of irreversible entropy production of the working substance in each "isothermal" process is a quadratic form of the heat exchange rate between the working substance and the reservoir. It is found that the maximum power output corresponds to minimizing the ...

Work output and efficiency at maximum power of linear irreversible heat engines operating with a finite-sized heat source.

We formulate the work output and efficiency for linear irreversible heat engines working between a finite-sized hot heat source and an infinite-sized cold heat reservoir until the total system reaches the final thermal equilibrium state with a uniform temperature. We prove that when the heat engines operate at the maximum power under the tight-coupling condition without heat leakage the work ou...

Global Efficiency of Heat Engines and Heat Pumps with Non-Linear Boundary Conditions

Analysis of global energy efficiency of thermal systems is of practical importance for a number of reasons. Cycles and processes used in thermal systems exist in very different configurations, making comparison difficult if specific models are required to analyze specific thermal systems. Thermal systems with small temperature differences between a hot side and a cold side also suffer from diff...

Efficiency bounds for nonequilibrium heat engines

We analyze the efficiency of thermal engines (either quantum or classical) working with a single heat reservoir like an atmosphere. The engine first gets an energy intake, which can be done in an arbitrary nonequilibrium way e.g. combustion of fuel. Then the engine performs the work and returns to the initial state. We distinguish two general classes of engines where the working body first equi...
